Requirements

Individual volunteers must:

  • Have a current SFBG membership.

    • SFBG Volunteers have the option for a Pay-What-You-Can Membership. No one will be turned away! We welcome SFBG Volunteers into full individual membership benefits after completing four volunteer shifts.

    • Learn more about the benefits of membership here.

  • Have an email address; this is our main form of communication for all volunteers.

  • Submit an online volunteer application form:

After an application form is received, a short/informal interview in the garden will be scheduled. Volunteers will then be asked to:

  • Read and agree to follow the Garden’s volunteer policies and procedures as defined in our Volunteer Handbook.

  • Attend a docent-led garden tour.

  • Volunteers under 18 who are not accompanied by a parent or legal guardian must bring a signed Minor Consent Waiver on or before their first day of volunteering.
