a week long teacher workshop presented by the
San Francisco Botanical Garden Society, California Academy of Sciences, and Conservatory of Flowers
Monday, June 16 – Friday, June 20, 2008, 9:30am – 3:00pm
A Focus on Forest Habitats in Golden Gate Park
for Kindergarten-Fifth Grade Teachers
Leave your classroom and join us in Golden Gate Park to learn about forest habitats that are near and far. In this week-long workshop we will give you the eyes, tools, and techniques to discover the outside world with your students. Learn to observe, record, and understand forests, from the one individual tree outside your school to the expansive natural areas, gardens, and exhibits found in Golden Gate Park.
This standards-aligned workshop will explore life cycles; plant and animal adaptations; plant and animal interactions; climate; and soil. All of these topics will be covered under the canopy of the five types of forests in Golden Gate Park: oak woodlands, tropical rainforests, cloud forests, redwood forests, and urban forests.
To register, please fill out the attached application, enclose a check for $100 made out to “San Francisco Botanical Garden Society,” and mail to:
