Children's Walk Guides

Connect Children with Nature

Every school year, our children's walk guides introduce young children to the wonders of the natural world, often for the first time. Experience the Botanical Garden through a child's eyes and connect them with the environment through an exploration of the plants, animals and insects that flourish here. Our youth education department serves nearly 6,000 schoolchildren grades K-5 every year.

SFBGS Docents

Children's Walk Guides attend 12 consecutive training sessions which take place on Tuesday mornings from 9am–12:30pm, starting September 22, 2015. You'll learn basic ecology and botany along with techniques for engaging children outdoors through an exciting mix of hands-on classroom time, walk observation, and practice. No previous horticultural or teaching experience is required.
