Educate & engage with Garden visitors
Would you like to introduce visitors to the plants and gardens of SFBG? Do you want to learn more about plants and their uses? Are you interested in the environment, sustainability and biodiversity? Consider becoming a Docent, and help us share the secrets of this special place with visitors from all over the world.
“The most rewarding part of being a docent is the opportunity to introduce people to the Garden, and all the myriad plants and stories….People usually don’t know what to expect when they enter the Garden for the first time, so docents serve as hosts to introduce this little-known wonder to an appreciative audience.” –Jim K.
This dynamic training provides an in-depth study of several of the Garden’s collections, along with an overview of basic ecology and botany and techniques for engaging visitors of all ages. Must love people and enjoy working with the public! No previous horticultural or teaching experience is required.
