About the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society

The San Francisco Botanical Garden is a living museum that displays more than 100,000 living plants – over 8,000 different varieties – in nineteen gardens spread over fifty-five acres. 2010 marks the 70th anniversary of the Garden. It is owned by the City and County of San Francisco, but it operates with the support of the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society, whose mission is to build communities of support for the Garden and cultivate the bond between people and plants. This relationship has successfully existed since 1955.
