Examples of the damage – and the cleanup! ![]() One Monterey Cypress in the Bamboo Pond off the hill on Lincoln Way ![]() And two Monterey Pines in the back of the Children’s Garden (not on any road or path though) ![]() Of course, there was a lot of debris blown all over the garden. ![]() But not to fear, our excellent garden staff are busy clearing, cleaning, and restoring the Garden to its former glory. |
After the 'mini-hurricane' we experienced at the turn of the New Year, I am happy to report that the damage from the storm was quite minimal to the Garden. The extensive tree pruning and removal done by Bartlett Tree Experts in 2007 was surely a huge factor in the limited amount of downed trees and limbs. Surely, a good percentage of the 25 trees that Bartlett removed due to disease or damage would have also joined the six trees that did come down.
There are a number of branches that have fallen or are dangling from some of our tall canopy trees (don't worry, those areas have been marked off for everyone's safety), large amounts of debris (cones, leaf litter, and, of course, Eucalyptus litter), and some fairly soggy ground in some parts of the garden.
Overall, we came out of the storm fairly unscathed and we can all breathe a sigh of relief that the majority of our treasures are still here and thriving. So, come on by, the garden is open, it's safe, and it's evolving…
