The Board of Supervisors just voted yes on final passage of San Francisco Botanical Garden Society's lease and management agreement with the City and to renew the non-resident admission fee.
Thank you for all your support over the past several months as we have worked to secure a steady source of revenue for the Garden and renew our partnership with the City.
More than 1,000 of you signed our petition to the Board of Supervisors, calling on them to support the Garden. So many of you attended budget hearings and spoke out to show support. And thanks to your hard work and dedication, we won!
The lease and management agreement governs the Botanical Garden Society's partnership with the City, a partnership that has lasted nearly 60-years, and one we look forward to continuing for many more years to come.
The non-resident admission fee is critical to maintaining the Garden and provides a steady source of revenue to support activities and educational opportunity for all at the Garden. This year alone, revenue from the fee beat projections and brought in more than $600,000 to support maintenance of the Garden by City gardeners and education and community outreach programs, including operating the most comprehensive horticulture library in Northern California and serving 10,000 San Francisco children each year through the successful youth education programs.
Please take a moment to email or call your supervisor and thank them for this outcome, which is so important to the future of the Garden. Click here to find your Supervisor.
We have a beautiful and unique Botanical Garden thanks to the support of so many friends over the years. We appreciate all you have done to help us create a world-class botanical garden.
