Farewell Kitty Fisher
On Labor Day, Sept. 3, Kitty Fisher, Adult Education Coordinator retired from San Francisco Botanical Garden Society.
What a fitting day to choose, since Kitty labored for the Society for 21 years.
Former Adult Education Coordinator Kitty Fisher.
It was a labor of love. Kitty Fisher has been a fixture at the Garden for as long as most volunteers can remember. During her long service, Kitty gave her all, first as a class assistant, and then as circumstances demanded, stepping up to bigger roles.
She took over and produced Summer Gardening Fair, and her last August Gardening Fair was a resounding success. Thank you, Kitty. She was integral to the Lunar New Year programs, and every event that took place in the garden.
Kitty was a tireless worker, pitching in with hospitality for the Annual Plant Sale, Volunteer BBQ and Annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon.
When the Education shrank to a staff of one – Kitty stepped up to the plate and singlehandedly booked the classes, created the schedules, did all the marketing and served as the point person for class set-up.
All without a single complaint.
Kitty was our keeper of the keys. The one person who knew where everything was kept, and she indeed was in many ways the keeper of the Society's history.
Kitty has a big personality - her bright smile, great sense of humor and incredible energy are remarkable – she will be remembered. She is unforgettable.
Kitty Fisher - The Garden will miss you and will always be grateful.
