Valentine's Day Magnolia Cocktails

Friday, February 14, 5–7pm
Join us under the lantern-strung eaves of an outdoor Asian pavilion for cocktails garnished with magnolia petals and hors d'oeuvres. Wander the lovely, hidden nooks of the Exhibition Garden with your Valentine before your evening plans, or stay for the Magnolias by Moonlight tour to make your romantic day even more special.
$30 Members/$40 General (or $35 Members/$50 General if combined with Magnolias by Moonlight).

Thursday, February 27, 10am–2pm
See why colored pencil techniques are ideal for capturing the fragile glories and unique colors of these winter blooms. Practice mixing and layering color and explore techniques including burnishing, layering and impressed line. Live blooms from the Garden will be provided or feel free to bring in your own beauties. Weather permitting, class will lunch outside and experience nature first hand. A supply list will be provided. Bring your own lunch.
$75 Members/$90 General; All drawing levels welcome.

Start or add to your own magnolia collection and find other plants well-suited to complete your magnolia landscape.

Sun Printing Scarves: Magnolia Petals & Leaves

Saturday, March 29; 10am–2pm
Harness the power of sunlight to create a cyanotype print scarf! In this hands-on workshop, create a design out of a variety of organic materials including magnolia, camellia and rhododendron bloom from the Garden. Participants receive specially treated silk that uses the sun to make a reverse image, resulting in a scarf with white designs on a beautiful cobalt blue ground. Rain or shine.
$40 Members/$50 General.

Enjoy special performances and hands on activities in celebration of the Year of the Horse and the many magnolias from China featured in the Garden. See lion dancers, lively folk dances, tai chi performances with dazzling sword forms and more. Enjoy family-friendly children's activities and special Story Times!
