Record-Breaking Winter Crowd for Lunar New Year Celebration

Warm and sunny weather ushered in the Lunar New Year and thousands of visitors flocked to the Garden to enjoy a celebration of Asian culture on Saturday and Sunday, February 16 and 17, 2013. Children from the Rosa Parks Elementary school gave a charming musical performance, followed by Chinese Folk Dancing, ballet, and music by the Sunset Recreation Center Dance Troupe. After the performance, children made lanterns and potted succulents with our Youth Education department. Sunday morning, the Jing Cai Tai Chi Team gave an amazing demonstration of many forms of tai chi using swords and fans and led the audience in a group session. West Coast Lion Dancers gave spirited performances both days thrilling children and adults alike.
