Join former Collections Manager Bian Tan on an expedition
to the highlands of northern Vietnam (February 2001). In the
ongoing effort to develop San Francisco Botanical Garden's Southeast Asian Cloud
Forest, Bian joined researchers from the Missouri Botanical
Gardens, the Institute of Ecology and Bioresources in Hanoi,
and the Russian Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg. The
variety of plants encountered was amazing, and included many
rare conifers and orchids. Follow Bian into limestone areas
that are home to rare and endangered species, where scientists
are racing against time to document biodiversity before it
is destroyed and becomes extinct.
