Dr. Nguyen Tien Hiep (right), energetic coordinator of the Vietnam Botanical Project. He specializes in gymnosperms (conifers and cycads). Since conifers in Vietnam occur only on limestone mountains, as do many orchids, Dr. Hiep regularly conducts field work with orchid specialist Dr. Averyanov.
