Our target mountain looms ahead. We are at
the upper limit of agriculture, above which the land is too
steep for terracing. Dr. Averyanov from the Russian Academy
of Sciences estimates our elevation to be about 1,000 meters
above sea level, based on temperate genera such as Ranunculus,
Potentilla, Viola and Geranium found here.
