Baguio is also known as the City of Pines, named
for Pinus insularis, the native Benguet Pine. According to
Dr. Madulid, most of the trees in Baguio were planted, and there
are very few native (wild) stands of this species remaining. Due
to very heavy rains and the risk of landslides and road closures,
we remain in Baguio for two days.
