Brian Lym (left), former San Francisco Botanical Garden librarian, and I meet our collaborator Dr. Domingo Madulid (center), who is curator of the National Herbarium, and an authority on the Philippine flora. Together, we chart our itinerary using two criteria - mountains that have been poorly botanized (few or no voucher specimens collected); and that are high enough to match the cool San Francisco climate.
