Two Intern Gardeners in California Native Garden

 

Job Description

Interns will work one day per week in the Arthur L. Menzies Garden of California Native Plants assisting the San Francisco Rec. and Parks Gardener in its maintenance. This position is for one year, eight hours per week.

Job Duties

  • Weed management
  • Fertilization
  • Mulching
  • Soil replenishment
  • Watering
  • Pruning
  • Green waste removal
  • planting

Required Experience and Education

  • Candidate must have a strong interest in California native plants.
  • He or she must be currently enrolled in college studying one of the following disciplines: Horticulture, Botany, Environmental Science, Forestry, Landscape Design, Plant ID or Floriculture.
  • Candidate must have completed one year of study in one or more of the disciplines.
  • Candidate must have some gardening experience as well of some basic knowledge of insects and plant diseases.
  • He or she must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, squat, and stand for long periods of time.
